Soft and fluffy Set Dosa served in Bangalore restaurant

First Time I Ate Set Dosa

First time I ate Set Dosa at a restaurant in Avenue Road, Bangalore. There used to be a restaurant named Ganesh Prasad near the Rice Memorial Church. In 2010, the Set Dosa cost Rs 30. I loved the taste. They gave 3 dosas in a set. Maybe that is why it is called Set Dosa. The dosas were soft and light. They came with simple chutney and sambar. That meal made me happy and I still remember it clearly. Set Dosa became one of my favourite South Indian breakfast items from that day.

Set Dosa at MS Building Canteen

Later I came to know that a government canteen in the MS Building near Vidhana Soudha also serves Set Dosa for just Rs 10. I was very happy. Before college, I used to go there every day and eat 2 Set Dosas. My friends asked me why I love Set Dosa so much. I had no answer for them. The canteen was clean and the food was fresh. Many office workers and students also came there for breakfast. Eating Set Dosa at such a low price felt special. It was simple, tasty and filling. This place made my college days better.

Trying Set Dosa at Other Places

After that, I tried Set Dosa at some restaurants in Whitefield. But the taste was not the same as Ganesh Prasad or the MS Building canteen. Some places made the dosas too thick. Some places gave less chutney. When I moved to Mysore, I ate Set Dosa at places like Aahar Restaurant and Vishnu Bhavan. Still, I missed that old taste. Mysore has many good food spots. But the Set Dosa I first ate in Bangalore stayed special in my mind. I kept looking for that same soft texture and mild flavour.

Set Dosa at Nammane Upachara

When I came back to Bangalore, one day I ate Set Dosa at a restaurant named Nammane Upachara. Nammane Upachara means Treatment of my Village. I loved it. The taste was very close to the Set Dosa from Ganesh Prasad on Avenue Road. The dosas were soft and the chutney was fresh. The place felt homely. Many people come here for traditional Karnataka food. Eating Set Dosa here brought back old memories. I felt happy that I found a good place again in Bangalore.

Medu Dosa at Nammoora Thindi

One day I planned to eat Set Dosa at another nearby restaurant called Nammoora Thindi. Nammoora Thindi means Food of my Village. They said they have Medu Dosa or Half Set Dosa. I asked what that means. They told me it means 2 pieces of Set Dosa. I ordered it. The taste was not that good. Or maybe I was not used to that taste. The dosas looked fine but felt different from what I liked. Sometimes small changes in the batter or cooking style can change the whole taste. I still prefer the full set of three soft dosas.

Benne Set Dosa

One fine day I tried another version called Benne Set Dosa, which is Ghee Set Dosa. The chutney with it was different and I liked it a lot. After that, I ordered Benne Set Dosa from Benne Dosa Corner more than 15 times. The ghee made the dosas rich and tasty. The smell of ghee while eating was nice. Benne Set Dosa is popular in many parts of Karnataka. It is a good choice when you want something a little special. I still order it when I crave that extra flavour.

Still My Favourite

Set Dosa is really a great food option in Karnataka. It comes in 3 pieces, is affordable and fills your tummy. It is still my favourite dosa. I still eat it whenever I get a chance. Whether in Bangalore, Mysore or other cities, I look for good Set Dosa. The soft texture, mild taste and simple sides make it special. Many people in Karnataka enjoy Set Dosa for breakfast or evening snack. For me it brings back many happy memories from different places. I hope more people try this simple and tasty dish.
